The Origin

Casa Féteira

The mill was created in 1912 by José Luiz Fèteira, great-grandfather of the current owners, at a time when, on the slopes of the Serra de Candeeiros, olive groves were being consolidated, thanks to the decisive influence of the Cistercian monks who, in the 18th century, introduced the “Galician ”in these lands of Alcobaça and Porto de Mós.

Of the 7 olive oil mills operating in the mid-20th century, in the parish of Pedreiras, the Casa Feteira mill is the only one still in operation, having been the first to obtain, on February 22, 1930, the legal authorization for production, conferred by license signed by the Minister of Industry at the time.

Casa Feteira – Sociedade Agrícola Lda was set up in 2007, a family-oriented company formed by the 5th generation to integrate the inherited heritage, and to obtain the necessary investments that allowed it to renew and improve the production capacity, and is now considered one of the reference mills and one of the most modern and advanced in the region.

With 12 hectares of organic olive groves, mostly of the Galega variety, the company has control of the production and extraction chain, also controlling the commercial area, which includes the 3 ranges of Olive Oils:

Casa Féteira, Vila Forte and Quinta da Capeleira.

“Olive Oil with History”

The Oil Mill

Completely renovated in 2007 and with an increase in production capacity in 2018, the mill today has an installed working capacity of around 3000kg of olives per hour.

It is a 2-phase separation technology by centrifugation, in a closed circuit and at low temperatures, always below 35º C.

Configured to work in batches, this mill can extract 7 different oils almost simultaneously, without mixing, thus allowing small olive growers in the region to consume oil from their own olives.
